A MAN died from injuries sustained when he crashed his motorcycle on a popular Brisbane Valley tourist road yesterday.

The 36-year-old man from Haigslea, west of Ipswich, was riding at the rear of a small convoy when he lost control on a steep, downhill bend on Northbrook Parkway, about 30km north-east of Fernvale.

Ipswich district duty officer Senior Sergeant Gareth James said the crash was thought to have occurred about 1.30pm, although it took some time for the rest of the convoy to realise they had lost a rider.

A helicopter was called in to airlift the man to the Royal Brisbane Hospital, but he was pronounced dead a short time later. The forensic crash unit is investigating.
