Ipswich market goers to support Lock the Gate Alliance

QUEENSLAND'S Lock the Gate Alliance will be calling on Ipswich market goers to support a campaign against the destruction of the $65 million Channel Country beef industry.

The environmental conservation lobbyists have been invited to set up a stall at this Saturday's Ipswich Multicultural Projects Markets in the Mall - the first market event for the New Year.

Lock the Gate is in the midst of a protest against the shale gas industry moving into the Chanel Country of south-west Queensland.

The lobby group has thrown its support behind the locally based Cooper's Ck Protection Group.

On a lighter note, this Saturday's Markets in the Mall will feature a wide variety of stalls and activities from 8am-noon.

Organiser Hedy Keogh said market goers could also indulge in a hearty breakfast of sausages, bacon, eggs and mushrooms.

Pat Keogh and Tunde Solanke will host a drumming workshop and there will be Middle Eastern and Maypole dancing.
