A MAN'S body has been found in a car in floodwaters on near Copmanhurst.

Police reported the incident happened on Rogan Bridge Rd but it has now been confirmed the incident happened on the Clarence Way near the Whiteman Ck Bridge turn off.

The 73-year-old man is understood to be a local who tried to drive his car through the flooded road.

SES volunteers had been called to the area, about 20km north-west of Grafton, shortly before 1pm today (Saturday 23 February) after a car was seen submerged in floodwaters.

Volunteers found the body of the man inside the car and alerted Grafton Police.
