MORE than 10 years after handing in his licence in for medical reasons, a man decided to drive from a party to avoid a fight.
Adam Michael Ian De Villiers, 33, pleaded guilty at the Ipswich Magistrates Court to driving unlicensed.
He was intercepted driving in Redbank on June 8 when police found he was unlicensed after he handed his licence back in 2002 for medical reasons.
He told the court he had left a party that was getting out of hand and he'd "rather be getting caught for driving than getting caught for fighting".
Magistrate Terry Gardiner said De Villiers was risking jail if he kept driving. He was fined $750 and disqualified for eight months.
