UPDATE: THAGOONA has returned to peace and quiet after a 55-year-old man surrendered to police at 11pm last night after a near 12-hour siege.
The man had earlier armed himself with a knife and was refusing to come out of his Kavanagh Rd home and give himself up to police negotiators.
The man's wife rang police around noon on Monday after he allegedly chased her out of the house with a knife.
The man is understood to be a diabetic and becomes aggravated when he doesn't take his medication.
The woman called the ambulance and when it arrived the man allegedly said he had a knife and refused any treatment.
The man is believed to have threatened self harm and had some red marks on his chest.
The ambulance officers then called police and three police negotiators arrived on the scene to coax the man out.
He final gave himself up and was taken into custody at 11pm last night peacefully and without incident.
The man was taken to Ipswich Hospital for treatment and assessment.
His wife was unharmed.
