UPDATE: RSPCA Queensland spokesman Michael Beatty was pleased to hear charges had been laid in relation to the bashing death of two alpacas at Caboolture State High School.

Mr Beatty congratulated Queensland police for persevering with the case.

"The amount of public outrage over this incident has not only reached the immediate Caboolture area but right across the country," Mr Beatty said.

"We congratulate the police for not giving up on this case."

Mr Beatty said he hoped the magistrate dealing with the case would hand down decisions that reflected community expectations.

Earlier police revealed they had charged a 19-year-old Bellmere man and a 16-year-old Caboolture boy with two counts of injuring animals and one count of trespass.

It was alleged around 5am on October 13, two males entered the Lee St school where the animals known as Harrison and Harley were housed.

It was alleged the pair seriously injured the animals, killing one.

The other alpaca was euthanized later that morning. It was further be alleged horses that shared the enclosure with the alpacas were moved out of the pen by the males but were not injured.

The cruel act was caught on CCTV footage which caused widespread public outrage when it was released last year.

The 19-year-old is expected to appear in the Caboolture Magistrates Court on January 29.

The 16-year-old will be dealt with under the provisions of the Youth Justice Act 1992.
