Macdonald fronts inquiry over granting licences on Obeid land

FORMER NSW resources minister Ian Macdonald will front a corruption inquiry on Monday to answer allegations he granted mining exploration licences in areas where Labor powerbroker Eddie Obeid's family owned land.

Mr Macdonald is accused of accepting gifts and holidays from Mr Obeid's family in exchange for making biased decisions.

He will also be questioned about the existence of an offshore account.

Mr Obeid and his sons denied allegations of corrupt conduct when they gave evidence to the state's corruption watchdog last week.
