LAIDLEY Community Centre played host to the district's children and their families at a Christmas party.

Held in the grounds of the local Pioneer Village last Friday, the function featured a number of novelty attractions including bobbing for apples, a treasure hunt and face painting.

The party was the third event conducted by the Community Centre this year courtesy of funding from Queensland Alliance micro-grants.

To the delight of the children, Santa arrived in style, complete with siren wailing, in a vintage Land Rover which once served as a fire brigade vehicle.
