POLICE sat guard outside the burnt-out husk of a Bundamba house on Saturday after a fire.

The fire brigade was called to the house just before 5pm on Saturday to find the house ablaze.

A woman was inside at the time of the fire, however, managed to escape and was not harmed.

The house was extensively damaged from the blaze, which emergency services reported was first detected by a fire alarm.

Neighbours reported hearing a bang prior to the fire.

Police were seen on Sunday removing a semi-melted electric heater from the building, however, could not confirm the cause of the blaze.

Police were investigating the cause of the fire with the Criminal Investigations Branch examining the scene.
