John Brumby new COAG Reform Council chair

FORMER Victorian Premier John Brumby will take over as chairman of the Council of Australian Governments Reform Council from January.

Mr Brumby was appointed to head the COAG performance review body on Friday by Prime Minister Julia Gillard.

He will take over from outgoing chairman Paul McClintock, who has led the council since its inception six years ago.

Mr Brumby also recently completed a major review of the distribution of the good and services tax.
