Job security tops wish list

LONG-TERM job security tops the list of five factors most important Queenslanders in or looking for employment, according to new research by a major recruitment and HR Service Providers.

Randstad Group director Mike Roddy said the results, garnered from a survey of 1300 job seekers in the state, revealed the local workforce also highly valued financial stability, a pleasant working atmosphere, competitive salary and employee benefits and a convenient working location.

The research forms part of the firm's annual employability awards program, which surveys more than 7000 Australians about the attractiveness of the nation's largest 150 employers to measure the strength of their employer brands.

But this was the first year Queensland's job market was focused on, though Mr Roddy said only the private sector was considered because government was "too fragmented" to be effectively measured.

"Some other interesting trends we observed was that job security and financial health were more emphasised, overall, this year at a national level," he said.
