It's all diamonds for Roy and Eva
ROY and Eva Schiefelbein celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary with family, friends and diamonds.
Their four children, 14 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren joined the celebrations and presented the couple with a large diamond.
The loving couple proudly displayed diamond wedding congratulations from Queen Elizabeth II, Governor-General Quentin Bryce, Prime Minister Julia Gillard, Queensland Governor Penelope Wensley and Premier Campbell Newman.
Mrs Schiefelbein said the pair met in Muswellbrook Hospital, NSW, where she was a nurse.
"Roy was in Muswellbrook Hospital to have his tonsils removed and he asked me out," she said.
"She had a bit of a spark," Mr Schiefelbein said.
They spent most of their three-year courtship apart while Mr Schiefelbein built a house in Rosewood and worked as a coal miner. They married in 1952.
"Then I came to Queensland where there was no power, and dressed to go to dances under candlelight," Mrs Schiefelbein said.
When asked about the happiest moment of their marriage, they said "it's all been good".
"We've had our ups and downs, but the key is respect and trust," Mrs Schiefelbein said.
