THE community spirit of Ipswich has again come to the fore, helping a struggling family to bury their son.

The family of Christopher Jones, who committed suicide on December 12, were struggling to afford the funeral costs.

However, after asking for a helping hand in the QT last week, Ipswich helped the family out to fund the burial.

Mr Jones' mother Dorothy said she was incredibly appreciative of the community's assistance.

"I just want to say thanks to everyone that helped us out," she said.

"We couldn't have done this without other people's help. To my daughter who did so much and to Len Russell Funerals who have been absolutely wonderful to us."

The funeral for Mr Jones will be held at the Salvation Army Church on Friday at 10am.
