A VIDEO blogger from California and his girlfriend were officially recognised as the first on the planet to pick up the latest iPhone 6 devices from Apple.

David Rahimi and girlfriend Jasmine Juan flew in from the US to be among the first in the world at Sydney's Apple store to buy the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus devices.

But unlike those in the 'regular queue, some of whom camped out for days, David registered for his phones in California when they were launched to beat the rush.

He joined dozens on the registrations line while the other line stretched out into the hundreds.

Ahead of the 8am doors opening, Apple stuff, decked out in their cult-like blue t-shirts, were heard clapping and cheering as they were prepped for the onslaught.

After counting down, the doors were flung open to huge cheers from staff who came downstairs to greet customers, one by one, as they arrived.

Customers leaving with iPhones were again treated to cheers with the enthusiasm of a religious service for someone who had just converted to the faith.

But many of those buying were already of the Apple faith with their biggest choice being whether to stick with the slightly bigger and thinner iPhone 6 or go for the iPhone 6 Plus.

Some obviously couldn't decide, buying both, knowing there was a ready market online to make a quick buck for those who might have missed out.

Mr Rahimi bought both phones to test out and review for his Youtube tech channel, PhoneBuff, which has more than 300,000 subscribers.

The self-confessed tech geek, who flew in two days ago, said he was a fan of bigger phones having most recently used the Samsung Galaxy Note.

Joining the Apple iPhone 6 launch, the first in the world, was Apple's senior vice president of retail and online stores Angela Ahrendts who got a rockstar reception as she chatted among staff.
