'Hysterical' drunk bites cop

A HYSTERICAL and drunk woman ran in front of traffic after crashing her car into a roundabout.

Alicia Marie Marsh, 38, received news a friend had died so drank vodka before driving to a Springfield Lakes shopping centre.

Witnesses saw a "hysterical" Marsh running in front of traffic, before slapping a male witness and retreating to her car to drink another Smirnoff vodka pre-mix.

When police arrived they noted her car was damaged as a result of Marsh hitting the roundabout.

Police said when Marsh was arrested she was argumentative, and this behaviour continued at the watch house. Marsh asked to use the toilet and then refused to co-operate with police, before biting down on an officer's hand.

The officer managed to pull back before the skin was broken.

Defence lawyer Alexis Oxley said Marsh had little recollection of the July 13 event and had since apologised to police.

Marsh pleaded guilty to serious assault, obstructing police and driving under the influence of liquor.

She was fined $1000 and disqualified from driving for six months.
