HUGO Weaving has been in the biggest movies on the planet but yesterday he looked very much at home in the old Ipswich police station.

Weaving has been in Ipswich to film Mystery Road, alongside a wonderful cast including Aaron Pedersen and Ipswich-born Tony Barry.

Written and directed by Ivan Sen and produced by David Jowsey, Mystery Road was first shot in Winton.

But Ipswich was chosen for interior shots, with the vacant police station and Hong Kong Restaurant on Brisbane St selected to feature.

Filming wraps up in Ipswich today and Jowsey said Mystery Road would be released late next year.
