Herbs help keep winter flu and cold symptoms at bay

THE FLU season has already struck with many people going down with a particularly nasty bug that has a couple of weeks duration.

While a visit to the doctor's can help, statistics show that more people are turning to traditional and natural remedies to help reduce risk or help relieve cold and flu symptoms with pharmacy sales in the cold and flu vitamin category growing by more than 14% in the past 12 months.

Obviously one of the first lines of defence against cold and flu viruses is a strong and healthy immune system and there are many natural and herbal remedies which can help boost healthy immune function.

Additionally the digestive tract has a big role in the body's immune function and maintaining a balanced digestive health can help shore up the body's natural defences.

Should the first signs of a cold appear such as a scratchy throat or a sneeze, this indicates that the immune system needs extra help to fight viruses.
