WHEN you think of a talent agent, you might think of a chain-smoking, tough-talking ball-breaker, working the phones, doing deals.
Madonna Williams, founder of Williams Talent Management, responsible for discovering and nurturing numerous actors including Lincoln Lewis, Jordan Patrick Smith, Anna McGhan, Jessica Green and Hugh Parker.
And she is as well known for her work in fitness and wellbeing, as she is for her work in the entertainment industry.
Madonna has her own health and wellness brand, has held various critical health education and training roles with employers including Sanctuary Cove Recreation Club, Golden Door Mirage and Queensland Education and is a respected personal trainer, fitness video presenter, and accredited nutritionist.
But it is yoga that is her real passion.
"I have been doing yoga for 16 years and teaching for 11," said Madonna, a qualified yoga instructor
"I was initially drawn for emotional reasons. I was really involved in a yang lifestyle such as triathlons - activities with more go - and yoga seemed boring.
"I was grieving over the loss of a friend and although it was slow I was able to really let go of my negativity."
"It was a feeling of 'wow' and I thought - I really need to feel like this at the moment."
"The point of yoga is the union of the mind, body and spirit."
"As a teacher every class is dynamic.
"It can depend on the weather, my life experience or my moon cycle. I like to be intuitive with my students as so many factors affect the rhythm (of the class)."
"None of my classes are the same; they are nurturing and nourishing and always full of surprises."
Madonna has just released her first book, Zen Soul Your Life.
"The book is an A to Z guide on thoughts, food and postures that can transform your health, energy and attitude," she said.
"My intention was to help people transform and heal."
"Yoga helps creates connections between people because it strips away the layers of tension, negativity and ego. Therefore we become more truthful and when we bring that into a relationship the other person mirrors that."
Yoga and mental health
Yoga can benefit your mental health by helping you relax, and it is often used as an effective form of psychological therapy.
Studies have shown regular yoga sessions reduce anxiety and stress, resulting in better health, better mood and better concentration throughout the day.
Yoga has also been used to help treat a wide variety of emotional and mental disorders, including acute anxiety, depression, and mood swings.
