Grassfire still a smoke hazard

POLICE have been called to conduct traffic control at Ripley, with a large grassfire still causing a significant smoke hazard.

The fire, which started on Monday, has burned through a large paddock near the intersection of Ripley Rd and the Centenary Highway just south of the Ripley township.

Rural fire crews are keeping the blaze under close observation, however don't believe it is a threat to properties in the area at the moment.
