Grass fire closes Redbank Plains Road
UPDATE 3:27pm: Queensland Fire and Rescue Service (QFRS) crews are at the scene of a grass fire burning on Redbank Plains Road, Redbank Plains.
A spokesman said the fire broke out around 7am.
" Firefighters are conducting backburning operations in the area of Redbank Plains Road, the Cunningham Highway and School Road," the spokesman said.
"This is causing a large volume of smoke and residents in the area are advised to keep their doors and windows closed and if they suffer from respiratory illness, keep medication close by."
Motorists are urged to drive to the conditions and take care.
Residents should monitor their property and if they believe the situation has changed and their home is under threat, they should phone Triple Zero (000) immediately.
2:23pm: A LARGE grass fire has forced the closure of Redbank Plains Rd this afternoon.
Motorists are advised that Redbank Plains Road between the Cunningham Highway and Collingwood Drive has been closed.
Police have warned the road may be closed for several hours.
