Miranda Kerr gossip 'spreads like noxious weeds'

THESE gossip columnists sure know how to get your hopes up.

Whose ears wouldn't prick up like a randy Doberman Pinscher on hearing that Miranda Kerr might be back on the market?

According to good old fashioned "rumours", Aussie Miranda and husband of two-and-a-bit years Orlando Bloom are on the rocks.

Bear in mind that in the world of entertainment news, rumours don't necessarily have to be things that anyone has actually said, for if you simply put it out there, it stands to reason that people will talk about it.

Nevertheless, word has it that the pair is rarely seen together any more - although that might have something to do with the fact that one is a Hollywood actor and the other is a Victoria's Secret model - damn careers getting in the way of a good rumour!

Rumours are elusive - hard to prove or disprove - hence their potence in the mind of the professional celebrity watcher. Plant the seed and watch it spread like a noxious weed; out of the gossip mag and into the mainstream.

Still, it's nice to dream every now and then.
