Wheelchair stolen in car theft returned to eight-year-old boy

UPDATE: Police have returned a wheelchair to an eight-year-old boy after it was stolen during a car theft at Forest Lake earlier this week.

The wheelchair was found damaged and dumped on a nature strip on Logan Reserve Road, Waterford West, on Thursday night.

A 35-year-old Goodna man is assisting police with enquiries.

Police thanked the media and members of the public for assistance.

 

10AM: A Goodna man has been charged with stealing a vehicle containing a disabled boy's wheelchair.

The Kia Carnival van was taken from a Forest Lake house on Tuesday night.

Police have since recovered the stolen vehicle and returned it to the owner, however the wheelchair is still missing.

The wheelchair is described as a manual red ZippyZone with distinctive flame wheel trims.

A 35-year-old Goodna man has been charged with unlawful use of a motor vehicle and receiving tainted property.

He is expected to appear at the Richlands Magistrates Court today.
