A GLADSTONE police inspector has been injured while monitoring a union rally on Port Central Way, Gladstone, this morning.

Police Media said a male inspector was hit by a truck carrying piping at 5.05am.

The inspector sustained injuries to his arm and shoulder and was taken to Gladstone Hospital, where he is undergoing further examination for other unconfirmed injuries.

Initial investigations suggest the incident was an accident and no charges will be laid.

This is the second day of protests in response to the sacking of three Bechtel workers earlier in the week.

CFMEU offical Ben Loakes said the incident had been a freak accident.

"We were protesting peacefully," Mr Loakes said.

"We extend our get-wells to the Inspector."

Bechtel Gladstone general manager Kevin Berg said the company had previously expressed their concerns about the unsafe practices of this union blockade.

"This is an unacceptable situation," Mr Berg said.

"If either the individuals who were dismissed or their representatives want to appeal the dismissals, they know the right way to do it."
