Girl recovering after struck by car

A GIRL who was hit by a car while crossing a busy road at Raceview has been transferred out of the intensive care unit at the Princess Alexandra Hospital.

The 13-year-old Bremer High student sustained serious injuries in the accident last Friday, where she was struck by a 4WD on Whitehill Rd, near the intersection of Edwards St.

Bremer State High School deputy principal Graeme Goodger said the school community was pleased to hear the girl had been transferred to a general ward and was now speaking to family members.

Mr Goodger said the student was recovering from serious injuries which were likely to keep her away from school for a long time.

"We wish her all the best in her recovery and we will be providing any support she needs whenever she is ready to come back to school," he said.

Students who witnessed the incident have been offered counselling through the school.
