A 14-YEAR-OLD girl will face court after allegedly spitting on an Ipswich detective early Friday.

Police said the girl, who was on a night-time curfew, handed herself into the Ipswich Police Station prior to 4am, asking to be taken to a friend's house.

It will be alleged that the girl took exception when police told her that she was restricted to a particular residence and that was where she would be taken.

The girl is accused of spitting on the detective sergeant's arm.

She was charged with serious assault and will face the Children's Court.
