George Bush Snr in intensive care

FORMER US President George Bush Snr is in intensive care at a Houston hospital.

The father of former president George W. Bush was admitted to hospital last month with bronchitis, but according to the ABC, a "stubborn fever" delayed his recovery and he was moved into the intensive care unit on the weekend.

Mr Bush, a staunch Republican, held office from 1989 to 1993.

During the first Gulf War he sent US troops into Iraq after the late dictator Saddam Hussein invaded Kuwait.
