One superstition RSPCA Queensland is keen for people to forget is that black cats are bad luck.
Two black animals can be adopted for the price of one at the RSPCA Queensland's Wacol animal shelter this October.
RSPCA Queensland spokesman Michael Beatty said the special offer was aimed at promoting pet companionship and making black pets more popular.
"It's a bit of fun, and we want people who are still suspicious about black cats to stop believing that," he said.
"Some pure black animals can also be harder to re-home, so we're putting them in the spotlight."
RSPCA Queensland customer service manager Ronelle Reid said the colour black was very trendy.
"Black is fashionable these days," Ms Reid said.
"Black cars are 'in' and the little black dress for women was never 'out'! Black pets are very definitely in!
"When we say the two for one offer is for black pets, that means that part of the pet must be black - and if that's just the iris of the eye well, so be it."
Mr Beatty said staff explained to people hoping to take advantage of the offer that two pets were more work than one.
"It's certainly a decision that people won't make lightly," Mr Beatty said.
"Two pets means double the food, double the cost of worming and treatment, possibly double the cost of vet bills, and sometimes double trouble."
The offer was great for people who worked full-time and didn't want to adopt a pet that would be left alone during the day.
The Wacol Station Rd centre is also decorated for Halloween, with pumpkins in the hallways and witch costumes for staff.
