Football fanatic writes Christmas list for sporting Santa

IT MIGHT be a little bit premature, but I thought I would send Santa my Christmas list early so the big man has a chance to deliver some cheer, in some cases much-needed to those involved in the beautiful game around the world.

Dear Santa

Can you please see it in your heart to bring to an end the football administration careers of Sepp Blatter and Michel Platini.

Isn't it about time that the two despots in charge of football's governing bodies made way for some new blood before they ruin our game even further.

Blatter still doesn't believe that TV technology can improve the game, while Platini not only wants to water down European football's greatest club competition, but also believes playing the European Under-21 Championships in Israel next year is a good thing.

Santa they deserve the sack and not one with any presents in please.

Can you also please supply the A-League with a better standard of refereeing for the new year.

I know it's a tough job for the men in the middle, but too many times their decisions have either cost teams victory or had players wrongly sent from the field.

Maybe now's the time to ask the powers that be to think about making referees in Australia go professional and give them a salary if they are to officiate at the highest level.

Mistakes, I'm sure, will still be made, but at least it might encourage a few more to take up refereeing.

Santa, can you please also tell Mark Bosnich that bald is beautiful or give him Shane Warne's phone number.

Failing that he needs to be told that hairpieces are not cool.

On the playing field please make sure that Lionel Messi's injury is not too serious so he can break Gerd Muller's record of 85 goals scored in a calendar year.

To finish one short through injury would be a cruel blow for the world's greatest player

Can you also try and get it through to people - both fans and players alike - that racism has no place in football.

Too many times this year we have seen it rear its ugly head and it has to be kicked out of the game.

It goes against the grain Santa, but if Swansea or Tottenham cannot win the English Premier League, can you let Sir Alex Ferguson get it back with Manchester United.

It's not because I support them - God forbid - but I have an ulterior motive because I reckon he might quit and give someone else a go.

Please Santa, can you also make sure Sydney FC starts winning again otherwise we might lose Alessandro Del Piero long before his contract Down Under is due to expire.

Lastly Santa, and this might be the hardest thing for you to aspire to on my Christmas list, can you please make it clear to the billionaire owners of football clubs around the world that changing managers more times than you change clothes does not necessarily bring success.

Good luck with that Big Man, after all there is only one Christmas miracle.

Merry Christmas.
