Fires continue to burn
UPDATE: FIRES at Ripley and Glen Cairn continue to burn today with fire crews predicting some of the most dangerous conditions of the year.
Both fires were contained by fire fighters yesterday and left to safely burn overnight. Crews have been sent to the fires this morning to ensure they remain safe.
Crews built fire breaks and conducted extensive back burning on Saturday to contain the two blazes.
Today is predicted to have the worst fire conditions of the year to date with high temperatures, low humidity and strong winds.
UPDATE: In the early afternoon two other grass fires south of the Glen Cairn fire were reported at Mount Berryman and Blenheim.
Meanwhile four crews were called to an inaccessible grass fire on Ripley Rd in South Ripley at 12.50pm.
With the fire unable to be accessed by the crews the back burned the area to contain it.
3:13pm: SEVEN fire crews are attending a fire south of Gatton .
The fire has been burning since mid-morning at Half Chain Rd, Glen Cairn.
Fire crews have been back burning to contain the fire and using tractors to create fire breaks around the blaze.
As on 2pm the fire was not under control but was not reported to be threatening any properties.
