Financials could delay murder case
A FORENSIC analysis of accused murderer Gerard Baden-Clay's dire financial affairs could delay the case by five months.
Baden-Clay, 41, is charged with murdering his wife Allison at their Brookfield home on April 19 and dumping her body on the banks of Kholo Creek 14km away.
Brisbane Magistrates Court on Monday heard that police were still waiting on outstanding post mortem tests and an analysis of Baden-Clay's bank accounts and insurance policies to prepare a full brief of evidence.
Court documents tendered at a bail hearing late last month revealed Baden-Clay's debts totalled about $1 million and police plan to allege he would gain close to that amount from his wife's life insurance and superannuation.
Police must hand their brief, except the accountant statement which might not be completed until about November, to Baden-Clay's legal team by August 20.
The case will return to court on September 3.
