Percival delights Coast music fans
THE Sunshine Coast's own star of the Voice, Darren Percival, wooed home town fans with a superb performance at the Caloundra Music Festival.
Overcast skies and afternoon showers could not deter thousands of visitors from the final day of the festival yesterday.
Festival-goers packed in to see entertainment on the four stages at Kings Beach.
More than 20,000 tickets had sold by 2pm yesterday, in what was the festival's biggest turn out in its six-year history.
Among crowd favourites was Darren Percival who gave his all, sweating it out on stage yesterday afternoon.
The former Voice contestant won new fans as he brought a young boy and girl up to the stage where he serenaded them.
He later had the audience singing along to every word of his favourites before bringing one of his own children up to join him.
The talented singer finished off humbly, thanking his wife for urging him to go on the Channel Nine talent show.
Percival hung around to sign autographs and chat with fans saying the one word to describe his outlook on life was 'grateful'.
Festival organisers said they were equally delighted with the event's turn out, with the John Butler Trio's performance on Saturday night attracting the biggest crowd since 2010 when Powderfinger featured.
Feedback from the crowd was positive over the three-day event as festival-goers rocked out to the fabulous entertainment.
Festivities in Caloundra will continue today as the The Daniel Morcombe Foundation's Big Family Day Out continues the live music and entertainment.
Darren Percival is set for an encore performance at the event to ensure the Queen's Birthday long weekend finishes in spectacular style.
Percival said he, like many other Coast families, had been touched by the Daniel Morcombe story and wanted to do all he could to support what he said was a 'sacred' day.
The Irwin family will also make an appearance this morning to support the day which is designed to promote child safety.
