Farina stamps mark of authority with Sydney FC shake-up

SYDNEY FC coach Frank Farina has only been in charge of his side for three games, but already he has hinted he is prepared to make some personnel changes.

Since a gutsy 2-1 win away to Wellington in the former Socceroos mentor's first game in charge, the Sky Blues have slipped up, losses to the Wanderers and Jets leaving the glamour club last on the table.

"As I said when I came to the club, I am a fighter and I will go down swinging in terms of the fight to make it off the bottom and up the table," Farina said.

"And I expect that players that will be with me will have that same attitude. If they don't, they won't play."

The Sky Blues have a tough schedule ahead - they will host league leaders Central Coast on Thursday night, before travelling to Adelaide to take on the second-placed Reds on New Year's Eve.

If Farina was hoping the Mariners would take time out over Christmas to celebrate their efforts, he was wrong.

Like the Sky Blues boss, Central Coast coach Graham Arnold has scheduled training tomorrow and Boxing Day to be ready for Thursday's big match.
