DIEHARD Apple fans were lined up from 3am in Ipswich, waiting for the Telstra Shop doors to open, to be among the first in the world to get their hands on the iPhone 6 "phablet".

More than 50 fans were lined up at the Riverlink store when the doors opened at 8am.

Raceview's Peter Caswell was first in line with his brother-in-law.

"I've got to have the latest iPhone model that's coming in within the first week of its release,'' the 32-year-old motor mechanic said.

Mr Caswell has been part of the frenzied queues we are now familiar with for every major iPhone launch. He has been so eager to be the first with the latest technology that yesterday was the third time he was at the head of the queue. There are plenty of jealous mates.

"I was first in line for the iPhone 4 and the iPhone 3. I'm generally one of the first customers lined up," he said.

"I like keeping up with the latest technology. I like to have it before anyone else. I've been upsetting a few people letting them know I've got the iPhone 6."

After taking the day off work to secure the latest iPhone, Mr Caswell's workmates at Darra Denmac Ford want him to drop by to give them a look.

"They all want to see it (but) I'm going in Monday. Telstra assistant store leader Kylie Burwell said although the store secured extra stock this year, the iPhone 6 Plus sold out by 11am.
