THE humble cup of tea has inspired a new series of artworks in the Swich Contemporary Art Space's second annual Infused exhibition.

Fourteen artists from Ipswich and surrounding areas have entered work in this year's display, with pieces ranging from a tea cup made entirely out of tea to a series of drawings about the art of reading tea leaves.

Members of the general public were also able to get involved, unleashing their creativity in a tea cosy design competition.

Ipswich artist Lorraine Kitching took out the $100 prize for best tea cosy, with her creation "Gaia-te", weaved out of lilies and topped with peacock feathers.

Visitors to the exhibition can vote for their favourite tea cosy, with a People's Choice Award open until the exhibition closes on July 29.
