ENGLAND captain Chris Robshaw bemoaned his team's skill levels as it failed to turn territory and possession into points in the 20-14 loss at Twickenham to the Wallabies.

The English had a number of opportunities in the second half of the game to take the win, but a combination of strong defence from the Aussies and poor handling from the home team cost the Poms, who also decided to go for tries instead of kickable penalties.

"We weren't clinical enough and we squandered some chances," Robshaw said.

One of those came late in the match when he called a line-out to himself, only for the chance to be blown by another fumble in possession.

"You have to make sure that if you do go, you get points," he said.

The Wallabies went into half-time 14-11 down after both sides scored a try. Nick Cummins finished off a near 55m effort in the 35th minute before England hit back minutes later through centre Manu Tuilagi.

Toby Flood kicked all England's other points, while Berrick Barnes put through 15 for the Wallabies.

Meanwhile, Pat McCabe, who missed the England game, has been told his Europe tour is over after scans on his neck revealed a fracture.

The Wallaby inside centre is expected to make a full recovery, but given the nature of the injury will need at least three months to recover.
