England coach knows team needs to work to qualify for Brazil

ENGLAND manager Roy Hodgson knows his team has plenty of work to do in order to qualify for the 2014 World Cup in Brazil after watching it get dismantled by Sweden's Zlatan Ibrahimovic, who scored all four goals in a 4-2 win in Stockholm.

It might have only been a friendly but Montenegro's 3-0 qualification success over San Marino ensured England slipped to second in its group with only one team certain of reaching Rio.

The England boss handed first caps to Steven Caulker, Leon Osman and Raheem Sterling from the start, while Ryan Shawcross, Carl Jenkinson and Wilfried Zaha came on as substitutes.

But despite taking a 2-1 lead, England let in three goals in the final 15 minutes, including an overhead kick from Ibrahimovic, rated as one of the best goals ever seen.

In other friendlies, France won 2-1 in Italy, while the Netherlands and Germany drew 0-all.

New Zealand's All Whites drew 1-all in China, while Fabio Capello's unbeaten start as Russian manager continued with a 2-2 draw at home with USA.
