A CLEAR run in the showjumping leg has helped Daisy-May Denny take out the two-star class at the annual Toowoomba CNC One Day Event and Young Event Horse of the Year at the weekend.

Denny and her horse Wilberforce were second behind Kathy Humphrey riding Oxlea Alla Bache after the dressage and cross country.

But Denny's composed run in the showjumping saw her pick up zero penalties to finish in first.

Meanwhile, Katie Gorell and KP Samsation came from 13th in the dressage to win the one-star event.

Gorell was faultless through the cross country and showjumping to finish the clear winner.

Last year's top rider Matthew Gaske won the pre-novice event on Capoeira while Dean Morris and Highly Confidential scraped home by just 0.20 penalty points in the preliminary.

Brianne Heffernan's horse Vienna Surprise was awarded the Young Event Horse of the Year which was judged by former international competitor Simon Kale.
