Cub Scouts win big at music awards
FLEDGLING Brisbane indie pop group Cub Scouts were the big winners of Tuesday night's Queensland Music Awards.
The five piece were lone multiple award winners at the Old Museum event, taking both the Song of the Year gong and the Pop Award for their sophomore single Do You Hear.
The second annual Queensland Music Awards, run by industry group Q Music, also recognised two stalwarts of the local music scene, awarding the Saints guitarist and Laughing Clowns frontman Ed Kuepper with the Grant McLennan Lifetime Achievement Award.
While local staple Ben Salter (Gin Club, Wilson Pickers and Giants of Science) was recognised with the Best Album gong for his debut solo effort The Cat having won last year's Most Popular Male award.
This year the men's popular vote category went to Pete Murray, with Kate Miller-Heidke winning the Most Popular Female award for the second year running. Brisbane's The Grates were named Most Popular Band.
