BRUCE and Denise Morcombe always say they are the "mugs in front of the camera" representing The Daniel Morcombe Foundation.

Now the Queensland Child Safety ambassadors will be seen in 165,000 homes as the face of the 2013 Sunshine Coast Local Directory.

"When Local Directories approached us, we were very honoured and we obviously accepted because being linked with the directories adds exposure and credibil

ity to some of the projects and work the foundation is doing not just on the Sunshine Coast, but the broader Australia," Bruce said.

"This is enormous exposure for the foundation.

"We are there standing in front of the camera but there are many hundreds of people supporting the foundation and it would never be where it is today if it wasn't for those sorts of people propping us up and cheering us on and doing the hard yards behind the scenes."

Denise admitted it was a little embarrassing to be on the cover of the phone book, but the couple was honoured the Daniel Morcombe Foundation and its work had been recognised.

This is an important month for the Morcombe family, with court proceedings into the alleged murder of their son Daniel soon to continue in the Brisbane Supreme Court.

"Every day people come up to us, whether it is at the supermarket buying a tin of dog food or getting petrol, people are very kind and encourage us to keep going," Bruce said.

"We are aware a lot of people have taken Denise and me, Daniel and our whole family into their hearts and I have no doubt that a month from now as the focus is less on the foundation's work and more on the court proceedings, many locals may have a small tear in their eye when they think of Daniel and a nine-year journey.

"We are apprehensive about the committal hearing and how we will all survive that."
