Courthouse evacuated over bomb threat
THE Ipswich Courthouse was evacuated yesterday after a person phoned in a bomb threat.
More than 150 people were ordered to leave after the call came in about 11am.
Detective Sergeant Heath McQueen said officers traced the call to a public phone box in the Ipswich area.
"A person we believe to be a male phoned triple-0 and told the Telstra operator there was a bomb secreted in the court house," Det Sgt McQueen said.
"We have a number of leads to follow up and will continue to investigate the incident."
The bomb squad was called in and declared the scene safe after about 90 minutes.
The Queensland Times understands a man arrested outside the courthouse shortly after the event was picked up on a warrant for an unrelated matter and will appear in court today.
