Coraki backs Bradley
BRADLEY Darke, "our" local Coraki boy being watched each night by more than a million people while in the Big Brother house, has Australia warming to him.
Since going into the house more than six weeks ago, Bradley has had his first real kiss - with Estelle, who he had an unrequited crush on - and celebrated his 19th birthday.
He's had a makeover, thanks to housemates, including a spray tan, new wardrobe and hip hairstyle.
Back in Coraki, his parents, Rodney and Marion Darke, are glued to the TV screen.
"We watch it every night," said Mr Darke, "He's doing really well."
But it's a big change for the family, with Bradley going from living and working at home, which doubles as the Coraki supermarket, to living in a share house filmed live and broadcast across the country.
"We're missing him, we haven't seen in him seven weeks now," said Mr Darke yesterday.
Mr Darke said it's great how everyone in Coraki has gotten behind Bradley, with "every person who comes into the store" commenting and wishing luck.
"People in Coraki can't believe that someone from Coraki is in the house," said Mr Darke.
"Coraki Hotel has Bradley Burgers on their menu now!"
And not just locals are intrigued with Bradley and his hometown.
"We have people call in from Brisbane and all over, just to see where Bradley's from!"
Bradley's parents are relieved that he's not up for elimination this week, having been in the firing line three times.
"I think the housemates seem to be warming to him a bit more," said Mr Darke.
"When he first went in, they probably didn't know how to take his sense of humour; he's quite witty.
"It's an experience he'll probably never get again, so we hope he stays in there till the end. As long as he doesn't come out with too big of a head!"
