Christmas shopping starts early
SAVVY parents know now is the best time of year to shop for Christmas and birthday presents for children, as major retailers slash the prices on toys.
On Thursday, Target kicked off its Australia's Biggest Toy sale.
Target general manager of stores Dennis Singh said the annual sale gave parents the opportunity to get organised for Christmas.
"Customers have been asking us for a number of weeks now when Target's toy sale will begin in eager anticipation, as they have come to love this unique and exciting shopping event which has been running for almost 10 years," Mr Singh said.
"We know that customers appreciate the opportunity to be able to shop for Christmas presents mid-year because it enables them to plan early and spread the cost of payments over six months when they take advantage of Target's lay-by until Christmas Eve. Lay-by is also a fantastic way to hide those early Christmas present purchases."
Those looking to avoid the mad in-store rush have the option of shopping online.
" This year, customers will have the convenience of shopping from home with all toys featured in the catalogue available online at shop.target.com.au for purchase or lay-by, with progress payments for online lay-bys able to be made online as well, rather than having to go into store," Mr Signh said.
The retailer will also have a play and display area in every store, where toys will be out of the packaging and children will be encouraged to come and try out their favourites.
"We know that the best way for a child to find out what toys they love is to play with them."
Target is not the only store offering massive reductions on toys.
Department store Myer's Toy Sale offers were also made available in-store on Thursday.
Kmart and Big W will further heat up the toy bargain war, as both retailers begin their toy sale events next week.
