Black Caviar will skip Newmarket for William Reid Stakes

THE world's best sprinter will not be among the first acceptors for the Group 1 Lexus Newmarket Handicap to be run at Flemington on March 6.

Trainer Peter Moody confirmed yesterday Black Caviar would instead be prepared for the Group 1 William Reid Stakes at Moonee Valley on March 22.

Straight after the wonder mare stretched her unbeaten run to 23 with her success in Saturday's Black Caviar Lightning Stakes, Moody said the Newmarket was a possibility, but he and the horse's owners had now decided against that option.

"We won't accept for the Newmarket," Moody said.

"We'll put that to bed so no one in the press needs to drive me mad over the next two weeks."

The trainer said the decision was much for the owners and himself as well as Black Caviar.

The six-year-old was given a clean bill of health yesterday after being examined by a chiropractor and veterinary surgeons.

"They all ticked off on her after going over her yesterday. She was super," Moody said.
