Dellacqua won't let poor health hold her back in 2013
IT MIGHT be a new year, but Casey Dellacqua has the same resolutions she had at the start of 2012 - stay healthy and get her ranking up.
The 27-year-old has been hampered by a shoulder injury in recent years, and was forced to withdraw from the Hopman Cup after a foot injury she suffered in a tournament in Japan in October failed to recover.
But after getting through a training session yesterday, Dellacqua said she was confident she would be right to go for next week's Apia International in Sydney.
"The main thing for me is just to stay healthy after having a couple of rough years with injuries," she said.
"As long as I'm healthy and enjoying it, the results will come.
"I'm a little disappointed that I didn't get to start my season like I would have liked to at the Hopman Cup, but the foot's going well.
"I'd like to finish the year top 70. I've got some really good gains to make."
Dellacqua has slipped to No.101 in the world singles rankings after she rose to a career-high 39 in 2008.
That came after she made the fourth round of the Australian Open and the third round at both the French Open and Wimbledon.
