Bush fires come close to claiming home

BUSH fires came close to claiming a Hatton Vale property as Ipswich sizzled in summer heat yesterday afternoon.

Fire crews were battling grass fires on Summerholm Rd in Hatton Vale and Paroz Rd, Laidley from around 3pm.

The flames were threatening a  home on Paroz Rd.

The summer heat hit Ipswich yesterday with temperatures reaching 37 degrees.
