THE tornado that ripped through Burrum Heads was like a bomb going off, said residents whose homes had been destroyed.

Neigbours Ann and Barry Roberts and Kevin and Gay Parr all likened the impact of the tornado to a bomb or an explosion, with Ann and Barry getting thrown through the air as it ripped one of the walls off their home.

The tornado has left a path of destruction through the town and the whole Burrum Heads community is now banding together to clean-up and move on.
