BRISBANE has received a boost ahead of tonight's away clash against Newcastle, securing the services of midfielder Luke Brattan for two more seasons.

Brattan has been a shining light in a Roar team that has struggled for consistency in recent weeks, producing a high defensive work rate and crisp passes into his forward line.

The 22-year-old said Roar coach Mike Mulvey had been a positive influence on his career.

"Since he's arrived at the club, Mike's given me a great opportunity to play regular first-team football," Brattan said.

"Being a Brisbane boy, representing my home town club is important to me."

Brattan has made 31 A-League appearances for the Roar, nine of those this season.

"There has never been any doubt over Luke's ability," Mulvey said.

"What he's lacked in the past has been an opportunity to play regular senior football."
