Former boxing champ Hector 'Macho' Camacho is brain dead

FORMER three-time world boxing champion Hector 'Macho' Camacho has been declared clinically dead, two days after being shot in the head while he sat in a car outside a bar in his home city of Bayamon in Puerto Rico.

Doctors said nothing more could have been done to save Camacho's life.

"We have to tell the people of Puerto Rico and the entire world that Macho Camacho has died ... he is brain dead," Dr Ernesto Torres said.

Camacho won super lightweight, lightweight and junior welterweight world titles in the 1980s and fought champions like Felix Trinidad, Julio Cesar Chavez and Sugar Ray Leonard.
