JOY and happiness soon turned to anger and bitterness for Loganlea resident Darren Smith after his motorcycle was stolen just three days after he bought it.

Proud of the new purchase, Mr Smith rode his Yamaha XV750 to a friend's house on Chambers Flat Rd on Tuesday, October 23.

He parked it on the driveway, walked a few hundred metres down the road to a service station, and when he returned the bike was gone.

Mr Smith said he was devastated.

"I was really angry because it was new," he said.

"I only had it for three days.

"Now, I can't go anywhere or do anything because my bike was my transport."

Mr Smith, who is on a disability pension, had bought the bike, worth more than $2000, with help from his mum, Sharlene Giddons.

He believes someone may have been watching his movements and knew where he was going and how long he was going for.

Mrs Giddons said her son did not deserve to have this happen to him.

"My son, he has had to fight for everything in his life," Ms Giddons said.

"When he was born, he was the first baby in Australia to be born without a stomach.

"Doctors never thought he would live.

"But here he is today, living proof that he has fought hard for his life and everything in it.

"To have this happen to him probably by someone who has never had to fight for anything is just really low.

"Darren is such a good kid and he didn't deserve to have this happen to him."

Desperate to have his bike returned, Mr Smith said he would not charge those responsible if they brought it back in one piece.

"I just hope it hasn't been stripped down and sold for parts," Mr Smith said.

It is believed the bike, with the registration 575IU was last seen in the Capalaba area.

If anyone has any information regarding the missing bike phone Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
