Big sundae before days of famine
BREMER State High students made short work of an 80-metre-long ice cream sundae they created in their lunch break yesterday.
The Guinness Book of Records attempt was all about promoting this weekend's World Vision 40 Hour Famine fundraiser.
Organiser and school chaplain Ben Zambra said total ingredients included 80 litres of ice cream, 500 bananas and 5.5 litres of topping.
"The benefit of this is raising awareness in the kids' minds about the 40 Hour Famine," Mr Zambra said.
"We've got about 250 kids across the school going without food for the weekend."
Bremer High principal Bruce Saxby said the event showed the students' great community spirit.
"They're doing their bit for people who are not so well off," Mr Saxby said. "We value trying to put something back into the community."
